Retiring CEO Trevor Russell has been recognized for his 43-year-long commitment and dedication to the additive industry with F&L Asia Lifetime Achievement Award.
The F&L Asia Awards showcase and celebrate the outstanding contributions and exceptional performance of those working in the fuels and lubricants industry in Asia.
F&L stated that Trevor is leaving behind a remarkable legacy of leadership and dedication to the additives industry. His calm professionalism was instrumental in helping Infineum and the broader industry navigate its way through challenging times such as responding to Hurricane Katrina in the U.S. in 2005, the financial crash of 2009 and more recently the global Covid-19 pandemic. He has also spearheaded efforts to transform Infineum from its strong heritage of additive transportation chemistry into a sustainable specialty chemicals company.
Receiving the award, Trevor said: “I am delighted and humbled to have received the F&L Asia Lifetime Achievement Award made all the more special as it comes from my industry peers and colleagues; it’s definitely a high point for me as I retire from my position as CEO of Infineum. As our industry faces its current challenges, the tough choices we make now will lay down the foundations for success over the next decade and I leave Infineum in safe hands to play our part in that journey.
“I’d like to thank F&L Asia for the award and everyone I have worked with throughout my career; I have enjoyed making a difference in our industry and progressing my career, both of which have been incredibly rewarding.”
Trevor started his career in the additives division of Exxon Chemical in 1980, where he held key sales and marketing positions in the UK, Belgium, and USA. In 1999 he transitioned into Infineum as a Vice President, as the joint venture between Exxon Chemical and Shell was formed. He became well-known in the industry by customers, suppliers, OEMs, and both central and local government officials across the globe through his different VP-level positions in Marketing, Sales, Supply and Strategy. He is renowned for his industry knowledge and desire to drive change demonstrated through the delivery of multiple projects including some large-scale capital investments. He was awarded the Asia-Pacific F&L Person of the Year at the inaugural 2017 F&L Awards, for his ‘outstanding contribution to the Fuels & Lubricants industry in the region’ as he led the redevelopment of Infineum in China, Singapore, and India.
Infinuem’s Chief Operating Officer and soon taking over from Trevor as CEO, Aldo Govi said:
“Working with Trevor for many years has not only been a privilege but also a pleasure. Learning from his experience and knowledge, and leveraging his networks and relationships, has helped put me in a position to take over as CEO of Infineum in July.
“His dedication has driven change and improvements in the industry throughout his career and his passion and capability for coaching and developing people will be his legacy long after he retires. I’d like to thank him for everything he has done not only for Infineum, but for the industry as a whole.”
