On 22 April, as events took place around the globe to mark Earth Day, some of our US employees celebrated it for the third year in a row with two great activities. Led by their Environmental team they took part in a street clean-up and a grow your own plant session.
Led by Sustainability Data Specialist and Environmental Team member, Kevin Parker (pictured above), the event was a huge success with around 20 volunteers getting involved in the street clean up on East Linden Avenue Road.
With safety in mind, employees were provided with protective vests, cut-resistant gloves and reach extender grabbers. Site Security Coordinator, Rob Perry also invited a local Police escort to attend, Calum Alexander, Linden’s new Site Manager explains: “The team did a wonderful job of organising the day, as well as collaborating with our local Linden Police Department to ensure our safety while working on the side of the busy road. This was a fantastic way to support Earth Day and make a real difference in our community. We filled more than 20 large commercial bags with rubbish, so it was definitely a worthwhile activity!”
Back on site, employees were invited to bring their own mugs and were provided with soil and seeds to create their own potted plants to grow.
“Activities like this are really important,” said Sustainability Manager Kevin Poindexter. “I believe that if you are personally invested in sustainability, it will not only help the planet directly but also inspire employees working at Infineum who have an important role to play in meeting our Sustainability goals.”
