ChemEx 2022, promoting STEM in Singapore to the future workforce

STEM - 22 November 2022

As one of our Sustainability goals is to have more than 25% of our employees involved in local and global initiatives to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), our team in Singapore (pictured below) recently supported ChemEx 2022, speaking to students about career opportunities with Infineum.

Organised by Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC), the event attracted around six hundred students and was supported by fourteen companies from the chemical industry.

Students mainly came from chemical engineering courses at several Institutes of Technical Education (ITE), Polytechnics and Universities in Singapore. The aim of the event was to raise the students’ level of awareness and understanding of the different companies operating in the chemical industry. It also served to educate the future workforce on the importance of the chemical industry in driving a more sustainable future.

Our Singapore team spoke to many students about the career and internship opportunities available at our company, reinforcing the important role we play in the specialty chemical sector.

This event was an excellent platform to showcase what it is like to work in Infineum and in the chemical industry.

Back in 2014, I participated in ChemEx as a student, and I was so inspired by the session, I joined Infineum!

As a volunteer for ChemEx 2022 I was so pleased to be able to help raise awareness of the specialty chemicals industry among students, I really wanted to inspire them in the same way that I was years ago. It was nice talking and promoting STEM among the younger generation and I was glad to hear that many of them had expressed an interest in our industry.
